Local Celebrities Announced to Host Knightdale Christmas Parade

Knightdale-Christmas-Parade

Making the most special event of the season even more entertaining, it has just been announced that local TV and Radio personalities, Rene Chou from WRAL and WQDR’s Mike Wheless will be hosting the Knightdale Christmas Parade this Saturday, December 2 starting at 2:00 pm.

Continuing to grow and provide the town residents with a grander event each and every year, town officials made the announcement of the guest hosts, who will join the area businesses and of course, jolly ol’ Saint Nick as part of this year’s offering of the Knightdale Christmas Parade.

Chou, the popular anchor and reporter for WRAL TV news, brings to the Knightdale Christmas Parade an impressive resume that includes three Emmy awards for General Assignment Reporting, her incredible coverage of Hurricane Sandy in 2014, and in 2013 for her impeccable research and coverage of the Kathy Taft murder trial. Additionally, Renee boasts a slew of other awards and honors from such distinguished organizations as the Associated Press, the Radio Television Digital News Association, the Iowa Associated Press Broadcasters Association, and the Missouri Broadcasters Association.

For the past 25 years, Mike Wheless has been as recognizable of a voice as there is in the state of North Carolina. Mike has spent the past quarter century coming over the airwaves to the folks of the Triangle area and currently sits as the host of the wildly popular Q Morning Crew on 94.7 WQDR-Raleigh. Much like his co-host for the 2017 Knightdale Christmas Parade, Wheless has been decorated over his career on the air by such reputable organizations as the Country Music Academy and the American Country Music Awards. Making his being named host of the Knightdale Christmas parade and even more fitting nomination, Mike has also locally been honored as the Knightdale Citizen of the Year in 2003, an Honorary Knightdale Deputy Mayor, and has received the Knightdale Mayor’s Award for Commitment to Community.

This year’s Knightdale Christmas Parade starts at 2:00 pm and will run its usual route down First Avenue. For more information on the event, visit knightdalenc.gov.
