The annual holiday tradition, Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue, will be returning toKnightdale Station Parkto ring in the yuletide spirit and the good tidings of the season starting on Friday, November 30 from 6-8 p.m. for theChristmas Tree Lighting Ceremonywith theChristmas Paradefollowing through downtownKnightdalethe following afternoon (Saturday), December 1 with a 2:00 p.m. start.
The tradition that has become Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue will no doubt once again see the community out in full force showing their holiday spirit, as the Tree Lighting Ceremony will have tons of fun filled activities not only for the kids, but for the entire family to enjoy. The youngsters in attendance will have plenty to do, including “Letters to Santa,” visiting and taking pictures with Mrs. Claus and the elves, Christmas themed games and activities, music, live performances, and even a visit from the one and only Santa Claus himself. At the conclusion of the festivities on day one of Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue, the beautiful Christmas tree that sits at Knightdale Station Park. Food trucks will also be on site at the ceremony, serving up food, beverages, and goodies throughout the evening.
This year, the Town of Knightdale will once again add a new “wrinkle” to the holiday traditions local residents have come to love so much, as the weekend festivities on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at Knightdale Station Park at the Holiday Fair and Music Celebration. There will as always be all types of different vendors selling Christmas items, a live band playing Christmas music and food trucks.
After night one of Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue gets everybody in the mood, the following day, community dignitaries, businesses, and yes, Santa himself will make a return as a part of the Christmas Parade. As was the case last year, the parade route will start atKnightdale Elementary Schooland end at Knightdale Station Park. Once again, there will be food trucks located at First Avenue and Main Street along the Parade route to curb your hunger as you show support for the passing by floats.

Located at 616 North First Avenue, which backs directly up to Knightdale Station Park, our friends at Oak City Brewing Company will be launching its inaugural “Maker’s Market,” on Saturday, November 17, from 12-6 p.m. featuring a wide variety of local vendors which will allow for you to not only get a jump start on your Knightdale Holiday Shopping, but also support your local businesses in the process.
In addition to nearly 20 vendors on hand for your Knightdale Holiday Shopping needs, in what has become a staple of almost all events…at the Station, tehre will be there will also be food truck s on hand, with the brand new , Baltic Bites truck being on site at Oak City from 12- 4:30 pm, and then The Cow and The Oak will bring their truck in for the events’ remainder and beyond at 5-9 pm. Additionally, the live music sounds of local favorites,Proton Jonescan be heard at the “Maker’s Market” event from 2-5 pm.

The opportunity to start the Thanksgiving holiday with some exercise before going home to enjoy your feast with the family will once again be provided by theTown of Knightdale’s annualTurkey Leg 5K atKnightdale Station.
The Turkey Leg 5K at Knightdale Station begins on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 22) morning at 8:30 a.m. Participants should expect to arrive between 7:30-8 a.m. to get checked in before the annual holiday race. The event will kick off and end, following its route through the town at Knightdale Station Park, located at 810 North First Avenue and will take place regardless of the weather conditions. All runners and walkers taking part in the Turkey Leg 5K at Knightdale Station will be timed and each will receive an event t-shirt.
Awards will be given out in several categories, including medals that will be given to males and females who place either first, second, or third overall in the Turkey Leg 5K race. Additionally, both the youngest and oldest participants will receive a medal, as will the “Best Turkey Leg Themed Outfit” being worn for the race.
As has become customary at any of the great Town of Knightdale events, food trucks will be on hand so the runners and walkers can have a coffee, a bite for breakfast, a cold drink, or just a snack following their race.
