This Friday night, August 26, one of the most popular family events of the season returns to Knightdale Station Park, as Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night kicks off with a showing of the science fiction hit, “Avatar” playing on the big screen beginning at dusk.
With the Summer series proving once again to be a fun and entertaining night out for area families, the Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night series has four scheduled showings to take place on Friday evenings through the first week in October. The Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night events are completely free to the public and all are encouraged to bring either a blanket or chairs to sit on as they enjoy the movie.

There will be vendors on hand serving up refreshments at Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night, and this fall there will be added incentive to grabbing a bite to eat or a drink at the events this fall, as groups from local schools will be running the concessions and all proceeds will go directly to the school on hand that evening. The Hodge Road Elementary PTA will be at the Friday, August 26 showing of Avatar, so having a snack or any type refreshment at the event will not only curb your hunger or thirst, but it will also help our area schools throughout the Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night series.
Additionally, the Cub Scout Pack 365, which meets right in Knightdale every Tuesday night at the United Methodist Church will be on hand volunteering their time to help with each Knightdale Outdoor Movie Night. With the entire town feeling the holiday spirit after last weekends annual “Christmas on First Avenue” festivities, the RDUMFA’s first ever Food Truck Rodeo comes at just the right time and in a perfect setting at Knightdale Station Park. In addition to enjoying the great local tastes and celebrating the season at this great Knightdale Holiday Event, a percentage of the overall sales on the day is being donated to Meals on Wheels of Wake County to help those in need to enjoy a nice meal on Christmas.
The entire family, both young and old will have plenty of great food and fun to enjoy at Rudolph’s Holiday Rodeo, as in addition to the 15 trucks, there has been reports that Santa Claus himself has his sleigh ready to take off from the North Pole, with a course set to touch down at this Sunday’s Knightdale Holiday Event.

The first day of the Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, will be chocked full of fun for the kids, as it will include such great holiday activities as , Letters to Santa, visiting with Mrs. Claus and the head elves, , music and a visit from Santa Claus himself! There will be food trucks on hand for the festivities at Knightdale Station during the tree lighting ceremony, as C&J Funnel Cakes, Baguettaboutit, Stuft, and the Knightdale Lions Club, who will be serving up free hot chocolate and hot cider to keep everyone warm will all be a part of the event. The star level sponsors for this years Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue tree lighting event are Cricket Wireless of Knightdale and Zaxby’s of Knightdale.
As if the majestic tree lighting ceremony is not enough to get everyone filled with holiday cheer, the Knightdale Christmas on First Avenue celebration continues the following day with the annual Christmas Parade. This year’s parade will feature a very special “Grand Marshall,” as local YouTube sensation, Johanna Colon will be doing the honors. Kicking off on on Saturday, December 5th at 2pm in downtown Knightdale, the parade route will be the same as last years’ beginning at the parking lot at Knightdale Elementary School and finishing up at the Knightdale Station Park. Christmas Parade food trucks to include the popular and delicious seafood offerings of Cousins Maine Lobster among others will be located at Main Street and First Avenue as well as in the parking lot of Northside Community Church.

Continuing along with the fantastic schedule of family friendly events at Knightdale Station that have been brought to the residents by the town of Knightdale, one of the most popular events that the park has had a chance to host, the Food Truck Rodeo returns to Knightdale Station Park on Saturday, August 8, giving members of the community a wide variety of local tastes and treats to sample, with nine different trucks scheduled to be on hand serving up their delicious fare.
With the resounding success and fabulous response of the previous Food Truck Rodeos held as part of the events at Knightdale Station, this years’ rodeo is expected to be even bigger and better than ever. Nine different food trucks will be on hand to satisfy all appetites and vendors will include Chick-N-Que, of Rolesville, who will be serving up their tasty brand of “the best Eastern style BBQ that NC has to offer. Cock-a-doodle-Moo, the popular “Meat Shack” known for their “smoke and grill” will also be on hand once again, as they have also become a favorite at events at Knightdale Station. The “gourmet grilled wings” and other unique offerings from Durham’s Full Street Wings Café will also be giving those in attendence the chance to try their “never frozen jumbo wings” in any of their seven different signature hand made sauces. Seafood enthusiasts will also be pleased to know that Cousin’s Main Lobster out of Raleigh will once again be taking part in the events at Knightdale Station, as they bring the “freshest and most authentic Maine seafood experience” to the Food Truck Rodeo.
Continuing in the theme of differing taste from around the country and across the globe at the Food Truck Rodeo events at Knightdale Station, Virgil’s Jamaican will also be present on August 8, serving authentic Jamaican dishes that include jerk and curry chicken, in addition to their delicious curried goat and oxtail stew. King’s Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks will also be at the rodeo, giving attendees a chance to have a taste of the “best cheesesteak in town,” and the popular loaded baked potatoes from Cary’s “Stuft” will also be available, too.
For those looking for deserts or too satisfy their “sweet tooth” cravings, the incredible home made taste and one of a kind flavors of Two Roosters Ice Cream will be scooping up their yummy treats, and bringing a north east classic to the Food Truck Rodeo, will be Jay’s Italian Ice, dishing out an array of frozen flavors that you won’t want to miss.
