The opportunity to start the Thanksgiving holiday with some exercise before going home to enjoy your feast with the family will once again be provided by the Town of Knightdale’s annual Turkey Leg 5K at Knightdale Station.
The Turkey Leg 5K at Knightdale Station begins on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 22) morning at 8:30 a.m. Participants should expect to arrive between 7:30-8 a.m. to get checked in before the annual holiday race. The event will kick off and end, following its route through the town at Knightdale Station Park, located at 810 North First Avenue and will take place regardless of the weather conditions. All runners and walkers taking part in the Turkey Leg 5K at Knightdale Station will be timed and each will receive an event t-shirt.
Awards will be given out in several categories, including medals that will be given to males and females who place either first, second, or third overall in the Turkey Leg 5K race. Additionally, both the youngest and oldest participants will receive a medal, as will the “Best Turkey Leg Themed Outfit” being worn for the race.
As has become customary at any of the great Town of Knightdale events, food trucks will be on hand so the runners and walkers can have a coffee, a bite for breakfast, a cold drink, or just a snack following their race.
